Vinteum is a non-profit Bitcoin research and development center that trains and funds open source Bitcoin developers that work on projects involving Bitcoin and the Lightning Network in Brazil and the rest of Latin America. The organization’s primary goal is to support the upcoming generation of Bitcoin developers.
The organization was founded in August 2022 by Lucas Ferreira and André Neves. Its sponsors include Okcoin and the Human Rights Foundation.
Bitcoin needs developers to keep scaling, maintain its security, improve its privacy, and increase its programmability. That’s why we as a community need to come up with various ways to fund developers so they can work full time on Bitcoin, the Lightning Network or other important open source projects in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Vinteum was included in a BitMEX Research report as one of the organizations funding a top 30 Bitcoin Core contributors.
In order to support development of Bitcoin and the Lightning network in the region, Vinteum offers the following:
- Seminars. Brazilian developers can learn about Bitcoin and the Lightning Network technologies through quarterly online lectures.
- *Grants. The grant program provides seasoned Latin American developers with annual funds to work on open source Bitcoin projects.
